WW1 French postcard

War was declared between France and Germany on 3 August 1914.  Our vintage postcard is dated 14 October 1914 and was sent by Raymond Langlois of Vernon in the Eure Normandy, to his friend M. Victor of Saint-Cyr-du-Vaudreuil, 30km away. M. Victor had been injured just two months into the ‘Great War’.

The short and loving message, sent over 100 years ago between friends, says something like this:

To: M.Victor, Chateau de Maigremont, Saint-Cyr-du-Vaudreuil, Eure

Dear friend,

I was surprised to hear that you had been hurt, Louise told me and it seems that you are getting a little better. Hurry up true pal and look after yourself better next time. I wish you good health and good restoration, until then I send a hello and a handshake.

See you soon,

Raymond Langlois

Armistice Day

Today our thoughts are with those who lost their lives in war, those whose lives were changed, and the family and friends so often left behind.
